Maybe you've been carrying something for so long it's started to feel normal.
A heaviness you can't quite name, a tiredness that lives in your bones, a heart that's been through more than it lets on.
You're still showing up, still functioning, but somewhere along the way, you stopped feeling like yourself.
You might have tried other things. You might have talked about it, read about it, pushed through it.
And yet something still feels unresolved like it's living somewhere words haven't quite reached.
That somewhere is your body & that is where we start.

Hi, I'm Shelby
I am a trauma-informed energy healer, yin yoga teacher, and ceremonialist specializing in grief, trauma, and nervous system healing with 10 years of experience serving the Northwest Arkansas community. I have a deep respect for the body's ability to heal when given the right tools & support.
I have always felt things deeply, even as a child, and for much of my life that was overwhelming, I've had mentors & teachers who helped me understand that my ability to feel was actually a gift. after receiving Reiki for many years and experiencing my own deep healing, I felt drawn to learn more and received my first Reiki attunement in 2022 followed by my Reiki Master training in 2023. Since then I have worked with Reiki in many different ways and I continue to be amazed by it's healing abilities.
I started Soma because I know what it is like to need a different kind of support. As a sensitive person, this world often feels like too much and everyone needs a space where they feel seen & supported no matter what they are going through. that is what I hope to offer at Soma.
Anyone with the intention to heal is welcome here. I welcome all bodies, beliefs, and experiences. Come as you are, and I will meet you there.

Why SOMA?
Soma is the ancient Greek word for body, the living, breathing, feeling body in its wholeness. In Vedic tradition (where yoga originated), it was the name given to a sacred elixir seen as divine, restorative, and something that brought people back to themselves. We've always known that the body is sacred and so much more than what the eye can see.
Soma is here to support you in slowing down enough to actually listen to the tension in your shoulders, the heaviness in your chest, the nagging feeling that something has been trying to get your attention for a long time. The body is always trying to communicate with us. Most of us were just never taught how to listen.
Through Reiki, trauma-informed yoga, breathwork, and intuitive guidance, these sessions are designed to meet you where you actually are, not where you think you should be. This work is gentle, unrushed, and in full reverence to whatever you're carrying.
Whether you're moving through grief, burnout, anxiety, or just a heavy season of life, this is a space for you.
Your body already knows the way back.
Soma is just here to help you remember.
what is reiki?
Reiki is an ancient Japanese healing practice and one of those things that is genuinely difficult to explain until you've experienced it yourself. At its core, it works with chi (qi), the life force energy that moves through every living thing. When that energy becomes stuck, depleted, or out of balance, we feel it. Sometimes as physical tension or exhaustion. Sometimes as anxiety, grief, or a sense of being disconnected from ourselves. Reiki works by gently moving that energy, clearing what has become stagnant, and inviting the body back into its own natural rhythm.
In a session, energy is channeled through the practitioner's hands, resting lightly on the body or hovering just above it, directing warmth, stillness, and a sense of presence that the nervous system can register, even when the mind doesn't quite have words for it.
You don't need to "believe" in anything for Reiki to work, you simply rest, breathe, and allow your body to receive.
what does trauma-informed mean?
Trauma-informed is an approach to caring for people. This means that every part of your session is guided by an understanding of how stress, overwhelm, and past experiences can affect the body and nervous system. It's a way of working with people that prioritizes safety, choice, compassion, and nervous system awareness.
In a trauma-informed space you can expect:
- a slower, gentler pace
- consent and choice every step of the way
- an understanding of nervous system patterns
- no forcing, fixing, or pushing past your comfort
- language and practices to support ease
- focus on connection and dignity
When the nervous system feels safe, supported, and connected, healing happens naturally.

WORDS FROM CLIENTS
Shelby is such an amazing space holder. Whether it’s teaching yoga or doing one-on-one work, you won’t find someone better to hold you through whatever you’re going through. I have worked with her for years now and it’s hard to find the words to express the impact she’s had on my life. 10 out of 10 recommend!
-A.M.
I had an amazing session with Shelby. It was really comforting, integrating and supportive. The whole experience helped me clear some complex grief and was really guided and held through the process. Then given new tools to help maintain more regulation. Healing is always a process, but I’m so thankful for her care.
-C.N.
Shelby is a remarkably intuitive and caring practitioner of bodywork. Her treatments are a profoundly supportive resource for anyone seeking space to explore and integrate life’s more complicated experiences and feelings. I am grateful for Shelby’s good work.
